Cheap holidays – Touring -v- Static Caravan
With the cost of holidays abroad still very expensive, despite reductions in fuel prices and continuing austerity, it’s not surprising that people look for cheaper holidays.
Leading the cheaper holiday stampede are the many who believe touring caravanning is the answer.
Well, let’s look at the facts and see if it is. A good touring caravan can be purchased new for around 14,000 pounds and in three years will still be worth £9,000. To tow the van safely will require a vehicle with a little additional power and more than adequate for this is a low end Range Rover which new costs £35,000 and in three years will still be worth 20,000 pounds.
With the initial expense out of the way you are now able to enjoy your annual holidays without having to spend hundreds of pounds.
Actually, that´s not quite right – the losses on both the van and the Range Rover over three years come to £25,000, on top of which there has been the cost of fuel and wear and tear on both the caravan and the vehicle that tows it.
Buying a static caravan
Now here´s another idea you might find preferable to buying a touring caravan. How about not buying one at all, instead hire a luxury static caravan home for your holiday in the UK. Most are situated in idyllic surroundings with more than enough facilities to keep both adults and children entertained. You simply drive to the holiday park at your leisure, unwind and at the end of your holiday drive home. No heavy caravan to pull and no loaded insurance to pay for.
Of course, there are other alternatives; for example, instead of buying a caravan on wheels, how about buying a static caravan pitched permanently on a holiday park. All utilities are available and there’s no need to suffer the burden of towing at a maximum speed of 50 MPH.
But there´s more – consider letting your new holiday home. As well as getting your own holidays free, you can use the income generated to repay the cost of purchase and then go on to make a regular income. . .
Now sir, will that be two static vans you want or three?
